Aphrodite Pendant & Necklace - Gold-Plated Silver - Large
The Greek goddess Aphrodite has captivated hearts for centuries, representing love, beauty, pleasure, and fertility. The Romans revered her as their goddess Venus. Some believe that her worship was introduced to Greece from the Middle East, where she was known as Ishtar or Astarte.
Greek mythology recounts that Aphrodite was born in Cyprus as the daughter of Zeus and Dione. She emerged from the sea's foam on the shore of Paphos, a picturesque location now known as Petra tou Romiou or Rock of the Greek.
There are many interpretations of Aphrodite, including the Celestial Aphrodite, the goddess of ideal and pure love, Aphrodite Genetrix or Nymphia, who favored and protected marriage, Aphrodite pandemus/porne, goddess of lust, patroness of prostitutes, and Aphrodite Pelagia, a marine deity. She is also often depicted as a warrior.
Inspired by the goddess herself, our Aphrodite pendant is a beautiful representation of love and beauty. Handcrafted in the picturesque village of Lefkara by two brothers, George and Panagiotis, in a workshop they have been running since 1968. Our chains are made in Italy, ensuring the highest quality materials are used.
