St Christopher and Madonna and Child Silver Pendant
St. Christopher, whose story draws on both religious teachings and Ancient Greek mythology, is considered the patron saint of travellers.
A story often told by older generations, he is often depicted as a man of significant physical stature. He devoted himself to helping travellers across a dangerous river where people often drowned. One day, a child approached him and asked to be helped across. St. Christopher obliged. However, as he entered the water, the river rose and the child's weight grew and became extremely heavy. It was only by great exertion that St. Christopher safely delivered the child to the other side. When St. Christopher asked the child why he was so heavy, the child explained that He was Christ and when he carried Him, he also carried the weight of the whole world on his shoulders.
This pendant is double-faced and features Maddona and Child on the other side.
